What made you choose to join the society? 

I joined the chess society because I wanted to learn more about the game and meet more people who felt the same.

What sparked your interest in chess? 

Watching the queen's gambit, my dad and I used to play when I was younger and I always wanted to finally beat him. 

Tell us about a memorable game or moment?

Playing with our tour guide in the fish River canyon in Namibia, in the evenings we would play chess and he would completely destroy me and say "don't think, don't think" every 10 seconds. I'm convinced he was a secret grandmaster.

If you could play against any chess grandmaster, who would it be? Why?

Murray (chess society president) because when I lose I know he won't judge me when I cry.
