External Trustee

Do you want to be a part of an exciting, inclusive and forward thinking organisation? Abertay Students’ Association has an immediate vacancy for 2 external trustees to join our Board. We are looking for people who have strategic thinking, independent judgement and an ability to think creatively. Experience of a governance role in the public, private or voluntary sector and/or experience of human resources and business processes would be especially desirable. We are looking for someone with skills and experience to complement those of existing Board members so please share with us how your background can help influence to ongoing direction of a small, enthusiastic charity dedicated to improving and enhancing the lives of students.

Abertay SA is a value-based organisation that is strongly committed to being democratic, participative and student-led, supporting and representing around 4000 students on a small and close-knit city centre campus. We are looking to have an enthusiastic individual who shares our values and passion to have a positive impact on the lives and experiences of the students we work with.

The Trustee Board is responsible for the governance of the association, strategic leadership and evaluating progress. The Board is comprised of both elected student representatives and external trustees.

This appointment is for two years and is renewable for a further term of 2 years. A full role description is available on request. Please email tellmemore@abertaysa.com. Jisc Student Partners

As a student, you are the expert in education because you are experiencing learning, teaching and research every day. At Jisc we would like to know what is important to you regarding the use of technology in education and research. We want to hear first-hand what digital skills you need for your future, how you want to learn and much more. This is an opportunity for you to share your thoughts. Your voice will feed into our business strategy and help us to make sure that our future work provides technology-enhanced learning for the next generation of students.



Being a student partner will require up to five days of your time over the academic year - the more time you put in, the more we will all learn.

This is an opportunity for you to develop and improve skills which will help you in your future career. We want to offer you workplace experience that will help you now and in the future. There will always be a Jisc member of staff on hand to help and you will have someone at Jisc to talk to all year. We can also help you if you want to know more about our work, our team would be delighted to help you with your work too.

We are looking for 30 partners: 15 learners from FE, 10 students from HE and 5 PhD candidates. Applications will close on the 20 September 2019 and a shortlist of applicants will be invited to phone interviews which will take place soon after. You need to be a current student from September 2019-June 2020 and be over 18 on 1 September 2019.
