The Vice President

The Vice President represents all students and plays a leading role on major campaigns on student issues, strategic developments of the Students’ Association, as well as projects and key events.

The role involves taking a lead role in supporting societies and events such as our Freshers Fayre, end-of-year party and welcome activities.

  • The Vice President will work with ASA staff and each Executive Committee member to implement the priorities set out in officer manifestoes and decisions made by bodies of Abertay Students' Association (e.g., Student Representative Council, etc.).
  • The Vice President will develop and sustain a good working relationship with Abertay University and organisations that can work for the interests of students, (eg. NUS, SPARQS, Dundee City Council).
  • The Vice President will lead and develop campaigns and projects, within the remit of the Vice-President Sit on Abertay University Court, as well as other university and local community committees.
  • The Vice President will be accountable to students, both informally and formally through bodies such as Student Representative Council (SRC).

 

Any Abertay Student!

You do not need to be graduating this year. The University allows all students of all stages of study to take a year out of their course. In standing for Vice-President, you need to be passionate about improving Abertay University and the Students’ Association.

As the role involves being a member of the Trustee Board, you cannot have been convicted of an offence involving deception or dishonesty (unless the conviction is spent), and you cannot have a history of bankruptcy.

July 1st 2024 – June 30th 2025

Before this date, it is likely that the post holder will work with current officers on some projects, and they will go through a period of handover at the end of June. The hours are full-time (35 hours a week), but flexible.
From time to time the Vice-President must work outside of these hours, meeting students, attending events or conferences.

  • 29 days annual leave plus 8 days leave over Christmas and New Year

The Associations' staff will support you in your role and you will receive:

  • Opportunities to attend conferences and external training days
  • Expert guidance in areas of: Education, Representation, Democracy, Governance, Sustainability, Welfare, Student Development, Design, Website maintenance, and crafting the strategic direction of The Students' Association.
