The President of Activities and Opportunities represents all students and plays a leading role on major campaigns on student issues, strategic developments of the Students’ Association, as well as projects and key events.
The President of Activities & Opportunities is a prominent face of the Students’ Association and may deal with press and media enquiries and represent the Students’ Association when liaising with external organisations.
The President of Activities & Opportunities actively promotes the ideas and needs of students and leads on the development and delivery of campaigns.
Create and/or promote extracurricular opportunities including, but not limited to, volunteering, clubs, societies, fundraising, etc.
Foster collaboration between students, staff, and local communities.
The President of Activities & Opportunities sits on university decision-making bodies, including the University Court and main committees.
The President of Activities & Opportunities is a member of the Trustee Board. The board has the ultimate legal and financial responsibility for Abertay Students’ Association.
The President of Activities & Opportunities will be accountable to students, both informally and formally through bodies such as Student Representative Council (SRC).

You do not need to be graduating this year. The University allows all students of all stages of study to take a year out of their course. In standing for Vice-President, you need to be passionate about improving Abertay University and the Students’ Association.
As the role involves being a member of the Trustee Board, you cannot have been convicted of an offence involving deception or dishonesty (unless the conviction is spent), and you cannot have a history of bankruptcy.

Before this date, it is likely that the post holder will work with current officers on some projects, and they will go through a period of handover at the end of June. The hours are full-time (35 hours a week), but flexible.
From time to time the Vice-President must work outside of these hours, meeting students, attending events or conferences - however, you will receive Time Off In Lieu if you work more.
