Senate Representatives

As a student member of the University Senate, your role will be to represent students on the highest academic board of Abertay University. This is a great opportunity to have your say in the academic running of Abertay University and improve your skills in representing your peers! 

 


Who can nominate themselves for this position?

To be a Senate Rep you must be a current Abertay University student.

The available positions are:

  • General Student - Undergraduate or Postgraduate Taught (2 Rep positions available)
  • Postgraduate Research Student (1 Rep positions available)

 


What is Senate?

Senate’s role is to report and provide assurance to Court on the academic standards of the University in relation to education, research and scholarly activity as reflected within relevant academic policies, regulations and codes of practice that the Senate approves from time to time. 

What is the time commitment?

The position is available for one year and the successful student is eligible to re-stand for one further year if they remain a student of the University. 

All Abertay students can vote in this election. 

Senate meets 4 times in the current academic year. Dates to be confirmed.

To help you in your role we will provide training and support, including

  •  Induction and ongoing training
  •  Support from the Governance team at Abertay University
