What made you choose to join the Games Development Society?

I’ve been involved in varying capacity with previous committees (last year I was a Brand Volunteer) and I decided I’d like to be on the committee properly this year.

What initially sparked your interest in game development, and what are some of the most rewarding aspects of creating your own video games?

All the way back in primary school I was introduced by friends to this little game called Five Nights at Freddys. Upon discovering that there were people making fan games, I knew I wanted to try video game development myself. While initially wanting to develop my own games, I’ve since realised that I enjoy helping others achieve their vision more. As such, to me the most rewarding part of working on a game is seeing all the disparate pieces come together into this technical wonder that others can enjoy.

Can you share a particular games development project that you’re proud of?

As of writing, it has got to be the second year Media Production project I was a part of. We set out to make a feature complete visual novel which had both an engaging narrative and gameplay experience. While the result could have done with more polish, we succeeded in making a fully-fledged 3-hour long game called “Spy Glass” (which you can find on itch io).

What makes a good video game, in your opinion?

A game where the development team has a consistent vision and a solid grasp of their craft.

What's the most embarrassing or funny thing that has ever happened to you?

Both tend to happen anytime I speak rubbish without thinking about it!

What's the most adventurous thing you've ever done or would like to do in the future?

Choosing to study abroad in Vietnam for my first term of GDP year 3!

If you could be any fictional character for a day, who would you choose and why?

ENA from Joel G’s series of the same name. What better way to realise how absurd and un-serious the world is than to be in the sort of situations ENA is often in!
