What made you choose to join RMAS?
Ran into Anya (vice president) during the fresher’s fair who was advertising for RMAS and led me to their table where they began giving more details about it and it seemed interesting then after watching the demonstration given by Ewan and Blair, I decided RMAS looked cool. Also, the atmosphere was nice and chill.
Do you have a favourite historical weapon or fighting style within HEMA and why does it appeal to you?
Sickle because it’s not a traditional weapon and because it puts you at a disadvantage to almost all weapons it requires a touch more speed, accuracy and creativity than most other weapons. Also, its much more satisfying when you do get a point on your opponent.
Have you ever participated in an RMA (HEMA) and what was the most enjoyable part of the experience?
Took part in RMAS’ mixed weapons tournament this year and it was fun because it was interesting to see how different weapons can be fought with as well as, seeing how your chosen weapon and/systems matches against other weapons/systems.
If you could travel back in time and train with a legendary historical swordsman or martial artist, who would you choose and why?
Fiore or bartitsu because both techniques whilst entertaining to watch being used in a fight are also both quite pragmatic techniques that can be applied/implemented as a form of self-defence.
If you could time travel, would you go to the past or the future, and why?
Go back in time in order to learn about periods of history where our historical records/knowledge is lacking due to too much time passing.
If you could live in any fictional world, which one would it be and why?
Either harry potter because magic. Star Wars because traveling in space, potentially being a force wielder, etc. Or lastly, All For The Game a book trilogy that focuses around a made up sport called Exy which is an evolved form of lacrosse on a football sized pitch with the violence of ice hockey.
If you could have any superpower for a day, what would you choose and how would you use it?
Transfiguration because I can transform into anything that a situation might require.
