What made you choose to join RMAS?

Blair Screaming SWORDS! And in interest in weapons

 

What initially sparked your interest in RMA (HEMA)? 

I’ve always enjoyed seeing swords in media, who doesn’t! But the club allowed me to understand what the difference between each sword and the history behind the weapons and countries makes them more fascinating. Plus it’s a martial art so it keeps you active. 

 

Do you have a favourite historical weapon or fighting style within HEMA and why does it appeal to you?

I like studying a man called Joachim Meyer. Who wrote his styles in late 1500s. Focusing on flowing 1 action into another and how to identify and defeat your opponents fighting style. I am quite fond of his Longsword system, but I also enjoy looking into his Rappier system, Because of how much of a black sheep it is. 

 

Have you ever participated in an RMA (HEMA) tournament and what was the most enjoyable part of the experience? 

I have participated in many tournaments and plan to participate in many more, I have done both compete and referee in tournaments. My favourite thing to see and do during these tournaments is my clubmates do amazing at these events. 

 

What's your favourite board game or video game, and what makes it so enjoyable for you? 

I love a good Capcom game like Devil may Cry or Monster Hunter. Because you can accidentally be cool.
