Your President of Academia and Welfare - Louise Ling 💜
The President of Academia and Welfare sits as Vice Chair of the Trustee Board: the governing body of the Students' Association. They actively promote the ideas and needs of students and run campaigns.
They also engage nationally in topics which concern Abertay students, and represent students in University Court: Abertay's governing body.
Hiya, I'm Louise! I'm your newly elected Student President of Academia and Welfare at Abertay.
I am a Game Design and Production student who loves everything about making and playing games, with survival and horror being my favourite genres.
Whilst studying at Abertay, I've been deeply involved with the Association: standing as a class rep for 3 years, and a department rep for Games and Arts, bringing forward a drive to advocate for clearer communication between faculty and students.
Alongside this, I sat on the Association Trustee board, contributing to funding decisions for student initiatives.
My goals this year:
- Work with class and department reps to make the student feedback process more engaging and rewarding
- Support Abertay in reforming their micro-credential modules into something more useful and fun
- Continue offering free cost-of-living aid through events like Abertaysty
- Increase visibility and accessibility of mental health resources
