What made you choose to join the Ab-Fur-Tay Society?
I hope to help create an environment where others interested in the community can come together and share their artwork, skills and passion for all things furry.
What inspired your interest in the furry community?
Initially, it was costumes. I have always liked cosplay and acting so this community that seemed to revolve around people imagining their own characters and then attempting to embody that character just drew me in.
Who is your favourite furry artist, writer, or creator, and what about their work inspires you?
I would probably have to go with a musician known as Verplex. They have quite a small following but still put a lot of themselves into their work, and I think it really shows how genuine and creative the community is.
What’s one thing you love most about the furry fandom?
Probably just how varied the community is. I have attended panels on costume making featuring professional seamstresses who have worked all over the world doing films. I met an American musician in Germany who was pumped to be playing.
What’s your favourite memory or highlight from your time in the fandom so far?
Heading over to one of the larger furry conventions in America I met a ton of friends who up to that point I had only known online. Getting to dance, sing, and generally screw around has got to be one of the highlights of my time in the fandom so far.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone new to the furry community?
The advice I would give would simply be not to over think it. Some people worry about not fitting in, that their interests won't align or any number of little worries, but the truth is you won’t know till you try and get stuck in.
If you could live in any fictional world, which one would it be and why?
Star Trek probably has to be one of the best you could live in. A post-scarcity society with the technology to travel the starts. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me.
What's your favourite board game or video game, and what makes it so enjoyable for you?
Arma 3 is probably my favourite game and it is terrible. Clunky controles, borderline funcional hud, Ai that see through buildings, mechanics that need multi part videos to explain and tutorials that teach you nothing. But it is by far the most community driven game I have ever had the pleasure of playing. I have spent thousands of hours in servers with friends while waiting for command to sort things out and it just makes the combat that much more worth it.
If you could have any animal as a pet, regardless of practicality or legality, what would you choose and why?
A dragon, all day long. Imagine being able to fly on the back of a dragon, that’s got to put all other pets to shame.
