What made you choose to join the Roleplaying Society?
I've been playing TTRPGs for several years and have made many friends from it. To me TTRPGs allow me to relax and have fun with friends and the society makes it easy to find likeminded people to relax and have fun with.
What initially attracted you to the world of roleplaying games, and what aspects of the game do you find the most captivating and enjoyable?
I've always enjoyed reading characters in books, seeing them in tv shows/movies or actors on the stage and I always think how much fun it would be to be that character. Roleplaying games let me create my own character with their unique benefits and flaws and discover how they overcome certain situations and how other people's characters, which I would have never been able to make, would interact with mine.
Do you have a favourite character that you have created or played in a roleplaying game? Tell us more about them.
The first character I played was Wing, an air genasi sorcerer. He grew up in basically a thieve's city which had a new ruler every week due to the old one being murdered or resigning from the fear. Wing was an orphan that learnt the tricks of the trade growing up and managed to amass a small fortune selling "magic" rocks. Secretly he just ran scams as he was gifted the ability to imbue spells into objects for a one time use. From this he became and ambassador of his nation and met up with other ambassadors for a meeting regarding the continent. From there bad things happened, all the nations were under attack but the ambassadors banded together to fight off the evil nation under Shar's (an evil god) control. This group would become the Ambadassadors eventually freeing the lands in his retirement Wing got engaged with another Abadassador called Frizzle (another air genasi as well xd). Now Wing rules with Frizzle as she turned out to be the princess of her nation. Wing still runs his own "gigs" (definitely not scames) on the side of course and usually spends time in his cardboard box castle with his kids.
Think about the most epic moment of a campaign you’ve participated in, what made it so special? What was your favourite part about it?
Recently I've been playing a character called Cyran, (this was part of a Rime of the Frostmaiden campaign but there are no spoilers fortunately) who started the campaign as the Frostmaiden's chosen. In the penultimate battle of the campaign he was face to face with the Frostmaiden herself. Over the campaign Cyran had been very cautious and mistrusting of his comrades, however now was not the case. He finally stopped following others (Frostmaiden), and followed himself while also able to put his trust in his comrades. Many times Cyran landed a killing blow only for the Frostmaiden to get back up. During the fight Cyran kept considering his life, how all of his actions led him to here and what they all meant. Every killing blow he kept yelling out to the Frostmaiden who didn't acknowledge him each time. All except the last where he didn't say anything, he didn't need to, he had nothing he needed to prove to the Frostmaiden, he believed in himself and his friends around him and as the arrow left his bow he felt complacent, the arrow that pierced the Frostmaiden was the last one and the world had been saved. It's a really special moment for me as it really felt like Cyran had finished his internal conflicts and seeing his story fully play out was so thrilling!
Have you ever been the DM of a campaign? What did you enjoy the most about it?
I'm still a current DM! My favourite part about DM-ing has to be seeing how each character's response to the situations I throw at them are. They'll sometimes do the most idiotic things that somehow manage to bypass every trick and plan I had, amazing me in the process or do some of the most creative things I could never have thought of. I love seeing the unique creativeness everyone demonstrates in their characters!
Is there a specific roleplaying game you enjoy the most? Which one and why?
Right now it has got to be pathfinder, I'm really enjoying the action economy system and how unique each character can be with the feats based leveling system.
What's your favourite board game or video game, and what makes it so enjoyable for you?
Above and Below. It's a board game which I saw a channel (Watch it Played) do a rules explanation and playthrough of. Ever since then I've dived deep into games and have loved being a giant nerd the entire time!
If you could have any animal as a pet, regardless of practicality or legality, what would you choose and why?
A red panda, they're so adorable and I love them so much, they'd obviously make the best pet!
If you could have any superpower for a day, what would you choose and how would you use it?
To slow down time, there's so much I want to do but I've only got so much time. I hope I wouldn't age faster from it 0-0
What's the most adventurous thing you've ever done or would like to do in the future?
I'm a bit of a foodie so trying brand new foods is very adventurous to me and something I love to do. When I finished my A-levels (school before Uni) and got an offer for Abertay I was incredibly fortunate to go to France and have dinner at a 3 michelin star restaurant as a celebration! All the new flavours and foods I tried were so exciting I hope I'll get the chance to experience some flavours even more adventurous!
