What made you choose to join the Women in Games Society?
I’ve grown up with close family in the games industry, especially women who always had to carve out their own space within it. I want to help inspire others like they inspired me.
What are some of your favourite game genres or game experiences to create?
I have always loved fantasy, open-world games. Games set in a dystopian setting are also fun, especially if it contains more fantastical elements (something Breath of the Wild does really well!)
If you could be transported into a game, which one would it be? Which character would you be and why?
Okami! It’s such a pretty game for one, and I’d love to just run through the fields and use brush techniques to make the flowers bloom. As for a character I’d like to be, probably Waka. I’d love to play the flute and give everyone silly prophecies.
What makes a good video game, in your opinion?
For me, the most iconic and memorable game experiences have always been heavily shaped by their soundtracks. The games I love may not have always been the best examples of their genre, but when the music complements the story and atmosphere it brings them to life in a way that can stick with me for years.
If you could live in any fictional world, which one would it be and why?
The world of Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth. I’d love to have my own digimon, and being able to adventure in a virtual world and be whoever I want to be would probably solve the majority of my problems. Besides, the political aspects of the hacking teams in the game would be so interesting to interact with!
If you could have any superpower for a day, what would you choose and how would you use it?
Shapeshifting. I just think it would be cool.
If you could have any animal as a pet, regardless of practicality or legality, what would you choose and why?
I want a whole aquarium of jellyfish, all sorts of types. From teeny moon jellyfish to the giant lion's mane. I’d love to just sit and watch them for hours on end.
If you could be any fictional character for a day, who would you choose and why?
Link, Legend of Zelda (either Skyward Sword Link or Breath of the Wild). He’s very cool and I like swords, which is honestly a big chunk of my overall reasoning. If I were Skyward Sword Link, I would probably spend the entire day talking to Fi and learning all I could about the world I was in. Spending a day fighting monsters, running through forests and talking to sword spirits sounds like a very good day.
