Abertay Women in Games Society
The Abertay Women in Games Society is a place for anyone who is an advocate for building a fair and inclusive environment within games education and the industry. Whether you’re looking to meet people who share the same passion for our cause, or just hoping to find some new friends within the university, this society is for you!
As a society, we want to provide women who aspire to get into the industry with the support and opportunities they need to become successful in their careers. We aim to bring awareness about the challenges women face in the gaming industry and help advocate for a change, while building a safe and welcoming community for everyone through our social and industry events throughout the academic year.
Anyone is welcome into the WGS- not just women, and whether you’re a games student or not! As a member of the society, you will be able to attend all of our events during the year, including in-person social events and online game nights, and with our Industry membership, you’ll have the opportunity to attend events such as talks and workshops delivered by industry professionals, alumni, and educators.
Members also gain full access to our WGS Discord server. You do not need to be a member of the society to join the server, however members have the opportunity to sign up for socials and events through our members-only channels.

Membership 🎟
Within our society we have 3 different types of membership, Social and Industry for Abertay students, and Associate Membership, for non-Abertay students.
A Social Membership will allow you to attend all of the social activities we host (i.e in-person meet-ups, game nights, online events etc.) and grant you full access to our society Discord server. It is priced at £3 per academic year.
An Industry Membership will grant you the same benefits as above, and in addition, you will be able to attend any talks and workshops delivered by guests (i.e industry professionals, educators etc.) with no additional ticket cost. It is priced at £5 per academic year.
An Associate Membership will grant you the same benefits as the Social Membership, but you will be unable to vote at meetings. It is priced at £3 per academic year.
*Any social and associate members who wish to attend an industry event of their choosing throughout the year can pay a one-time ticket fee not exceeding £2 to attend.
